5 ශ්‍රේණිය සිංහල (මව්බස) විෂය නිර්දේශය සකස් වී ඇත්තේ ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන්ම භාෂාමය කුසලතා වර්ධනය කිරීම සහ 5 ශ්‍රේණිය ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගයේ I සහ II ප්‍රශ්න පත්‍රවලට දරුවා ඉතා පහසුවෙන් සූදානම් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගෙනයි.

5 ශ්‍රේණිය ඉංග්‍රීසි (English) විෂය නිර්දේශය සකස් කර ඇත්තේ දරුවාගේ මූලික සන්නිවේදන කුසලතා (Communication Skills) වර්ධනය කිරීමට සහ ප්‍රාථමික අධ්‍යාපනයේ අවසන් කඩඉම වන ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගයේ II ප්‍රශ්න පත්‍රයට අවශ්‍ය මූලික ඉංග්‍රීසි දැනුම ක්‍රමවත්ව ලබා දීමටයි.

5 ශ්‍රේණිය පරිසරය (Environment Related Activities – ERA) විෂය නිර්දේශය සකස් කර ඇත්තේ දරුවා අවට ලෝකය පිළිබඳව විද්‍යාත්මක, භූගෝලීය සහ සමාජයීය අවබෝධය පුළුල් කිරීමටයි. මෙම විෂය 5 ශ්‍රේණිය ශිෂ්‍යත්ව විභාගයේ I සහ II ප්‍රශ්න පත්‍රවල බහුවරණ හා කෙටි ප්‍රශ්න සඳහා අතිශය තීරණාත්මක කොටසක් ඉටු කරයි.
